Parental Guidance: Film Review

Led by two charming actors Billy Crystal and Bette Midler, Parental Guidance has it's triumph and flaws and making it an heartwarming family film, Directed by Andy Fickman the director of family films alike The Game Plan and Race to Witch Mountain, and Parental Guidance is indeed a film that is comforting and a movie that makes your problem set aside for a while.

Old school grandfather Artie who is accustomed to calling the shots, meets his match when he and his eager-to-please wife Diane agree to babysit their three grandkids when their type-A helicopter parents go away for work. But when 21st century problems collide with Artie and Diane's old school methods of tough rules, lots of love and old-fashioned games, it's learning to bend - and not holding your ground - that binds a family together.

Parental Guidance is obviously not gonna attract attention to mean critics and it's target was targeted successfully and that was the audience, It's absolutely an outrageous an hysterical fun time, A well screenplayed funny and heartwarming film, and it's a comedy that kids will surely enjoy and more likely to appeal on adults.

Billy Crystal and Bette Midler is hilarious and annoying as ever, as for Marisa Tomei she really is a great addition in the film and it is a perfect combination, this is created with no holds barred and been made by the greatest intentions but it's too predictable and too sappy and making it another typical family movie.

An inoffensive, occasionally enjoyable caper that has its heart in the right place, Parental Guidance is yet the film you can't watch and you wont miss anything, but this is an exception, all families should watch this kind and tender film, critics be damned and dont mind them, this is a film that you can relax and worth every penny

The greatest asset of this film that is it have heart and story to tell, yet heavily relied on numerous cliches and choppy dialogues, Parental Guidance is just a breath of fresh air, this film is not filled with sex, lust, gluttony and violence and this is filled with heart and laughs and that makes Andy Fickman's Parental Guidance a whimsical film for all ages.

4 out of 5 stars

  1. I wanted to watch this at the cinema but my sister did not want to :-( Your review is great again - it didn't spoil it and told me enough to make me want to get a rental copy when it's out.

I think Billy Crystal is very funny too - he reminds me of how my dad is around children in Parental Guidance.
